At BirdBrain Technologies, we’re always looking for opportunities to connect with our community and share the joy of robotics and creative learning. That’s why we were thrilled to participate in Robot & AI Discovery Day 2025, hosted by the Pittsburgh Robotics Network.
This event brought together a vibrant mix of robotics companies, educators, students, and curious minds of all ages — all eager to explore the cutting edge of robotics and artificial intelligence in our hometown of Pittsburgh.
A Day of Discovery and Delight
Throughout the day, our team had the chance to speak with hundreds of attendees — from high school students and STEM teachers to professional roboticists and families with young children. We shared the story of BirdBrain’s beginnings, demonstrated our educational robots, and invited visitors to get hands-on with our tools.
Students programmed Finch robots in the arena, built imaginative structures with Strawbees, and explored Hummingbird projects powered by artificial intelligence. In fact, this year marked an exciting milestone: four of our projects featured AI capabilities, using machine learning models we trained to recognize objects and gestures. Watching students interact with these projects — and realize they could build and train something themselves — was a highlight of the day.
A Community of Innovators
It was inspiring to see so many organizations — from local schools to cutting-edge tech companies — come together to celebrate innovation. Events like this remind us that robotics is more than just technology; it’s a way to spark imagination, foster learning, and build connections.
Looking Ahead
We left Discovery Day energized by the conversations we had and the creativity we witnessed. Whether it was a five-year-old programming a Finch for the first time or a college student exploring AI-powered projects, the day was filled with moments that reaffirmed our mission: to make robotics education accessible, engaging, and fun.
