Days 1-2: Introducing the Finch & Coding Tutorials
Your students are ready to dive into computational thinking with the Finch Robot and excited to explore hands-on computer science. After distributing the 10 Finch Robots in groups of 1-2, students pair the robots with their devices using icon-based programming for beginners or block-based programming if they’re up for a challenge to bring their robots to life.
With self-paced programming tutorials, students work independently or collaboratively to begin coding their robots to move, draw, and interact with their surroundings with minimal support from the teacher. A young student realizes computer science is something they are interested in.
Days 3-4: Expanding Coding Skills & Storing Projects
Over the next few days, students deepen their understanding of programming by engaging in collaborative challenges such as Finch Jousting or explore a more creative path by turning their Finches into Parade Floats.
They use the Finch Mats to navigate mazes, explore math concepts, and create art using the marker holder. The Finch Arenas provide the perfect space for interactive challenges and competitive coding exercises.
Each day, after experimenting with their code, students neatly store their robots and accessories in the Rolling Storage Unit. The USB Charging Hubs ensure that all robots are fully charged and ready for the next session.
Day 5-6: Showcase & Reflection
After a week of programming and learning academic content through a new lense, students proudly demonstrate their work.
