Tiny Town: Robot Parade–SOLD OUT

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT

Join us to design, build, and program an autonomous parade float using the Hummingbird Robotics Kit with micro:bit and craft supplies. We will teach you how to program LEDs, motors, and light sensors so that your parade float can avoid obstacles and follow lines. All skill levels welcome, including absolute beginners. Please plan to bring your own laptop. Participation is free, but you must pre-register for both the CS Firehose AND Tiny Town: Robot Parade.

Tiny Town: Making Robot Memories

Multiple 1-hour workshops

Location: McCormick Place West, W186B, Room 187C

Join us in one of these four 55-minute sessions for a hands on programming workshop using Hummingbird with micro:bit. Recreate a favorite childhood memory in a tiny home that you will design, build and program with LEDs, sensors, motors, and craft supplies. All skill levels welcome, including absolute beginners. Please plan to bring your own laptop. All other materials provided. Participation is free, but you must pre-register for the CS Firehose.

Computer Science Network Playground

Sunday, June 24th | 12:30-4:00pm CDT

Location: McCormick Place Playground A, Level 3, Skyline Ballroom

At this highly interactive event you will learn about new and updated resources for computer science (CS) and computational thinking (CT), including a station where you can build & program a robot with the Hummingbird Robotics Kit. Many of the interactive exhibits will be facilitated by students. The opportunities here embrace CS and CT at all levels and will include both formal and informal educational environments.

Bots and Beverages: A Meetup for Educators–SOLD OUT

Location: Vice District Brewing Company

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT

Come out to the Vice District Brewing Company to kick back, relax, and create some robots! Talk with peers about edtech, bring curriculum ideas/questions, and build a robot with the Hummingbird Robotics Kit! Invite your local Chicago friends and colleagues who weren’t able to attend ISTE for an opportunity to learn more about integrating robotics with your curriculum.

No programming/robotics experience required! Technology and craft materials will be provided. Beverages and food are available for purchase at the Brewery.

Tiny Town at Booth #2477

Monday, June 25th to Wednesday, June 27th

Location: McCormick Place Exhibit Hall

Visit the BirdBrain Technologies Booth #2477 to see the completed Tiny Town built by educators. Watch the autonomous parade floats go by and peek into the windows of the tiny smart homes, all built with the Hummingbird Robotics Kit. Then create your own addition to the scene in our makerspace!

The STEM PLN is happy to present an opportunity for all educators to participate in hands-on play with classic and new research-based tools, share ideas and experiences in an informal setting, see examples of student work, and leave inspired to try new things, all related to STEAM, including the Hummingbird Robotics Kit.
