• Robot Petting Zoo Project Outline:
  • Criteria (things your project must do):
    • Use at least 1 motor or LED
    • Use at least 1 sensor
    • React when someone interacts with it
  • Constraints (limits on your project):
    • Use only supplies you have around you
    • Limit the size of your project to about the size of a shoebox

• Suggested supplies:
  • Cardboard boxes or scraps
  • Scissors or a cutting blade and cutting mat
  • Masking tape or a hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
  • Toilet paper tubes
  • Styrofoam balls or packing peanuts
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Paper cups
  • Paper plates
  • Craft sticks
  • Straws
  • Rubber bands
  • String
  • Markers

• Learn some techniques to build with Hummingbird components in your project.

• Take a look at some cardboard mechanisms you might use in your project.
• Crank mechanism
  • Supplies: paperclip and cardboard
• Winch mechanism (eyes)
  • Supplies: TP tube, marker

• Get some ideas for using sensors in your project.
• What do you need for each type of interaction?
  • Pet Me sensor: light sensor, tape
  • Feed Me sensor: light sensor, LED, tape, (optional: cup)
  • Get Close sensor: distance sensor, tape

• Learn to code a simple sensor interaction with an if-else statement, and to put a sequence inside an if-else statement.
