Why am I getting a “Connection Failure” message in the BlueBird Connector?

The BlueBird Connector requires that your computer be able to use Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to the Finch Robot or the Hummingbird Bit. There area few reasons that you may see this message:

  1. You will see this message if your device does not have Bluetooth capability. If you are using Windows and your device does not have built-in Bluetooth, you can use a Bluetooth dongle to add this capability. For more information, see Do your products require a device with Bluetooth capability?
  2. You will see this message if the built-in Bluetooth on your device is not turned on. Check to be sure that Bluetooth is enabled.
  3. You are running an old version of the BlueBird Connector. If you are using Windows and installed the BlueBird Connector before September 15, 2021, you need to install a newer version in order to use your device’s built-in Bluetooth.
