Teacher Talk: Teaching Theme & Imagery through Creative Robotics

Teacher Talk: Teaching Theme & Imagery through Creative Robotics

Join this teacher and librarian panel discussion to explore how we can teach ELA deeply using creative robotics. By engaging in making a robotic version of a poem, students are forced to return to the primary text repeatedly and organically to inform their project.

This week we’re joined by Melissa Unger, Elementary STEAM Teacher at South Fayette Township School District, who will share her experiences in K-2 classrooms!

Robot Poetry is based on a project by educator Sue Mellon. Sue observed, “The more time spent reading, arguing, designing, building, programming, and creating resulted in the more [they] understood [the poem].” We will showcase the projects and learning from Wednesday’s Robot Poetry webinar with students, and discuss pedagogy and practical teaching tips.

This webinar is free to attend. Register below to attend on Zoom. Registration closes 1 hour prior to class, so be sure to register before then! If you miss the cutoff, you can watch our live stream on Facebook!
