On October 4, 2023, Oracle Academy team members Bruce Regittko, Tyra Crockett, and Hanna Kosbab, along with Oracle Cloud Sales Representative Dylan Glicksman, attended the second annual Tech Empowerment Day at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The event attracted more than 6,000 middle and high school faculty and students from across LA County. It was hosted by Delete the Divide, “an initiative led by the County of Los Angeles to advance digital equity in underserved communities through partnerships, infrastructure investments, and technology resources that empower residents and small businesses.”At the event, Oracle Academy hosted a booth where students were introduced to the exciting world of programming by driving Finch Robots, while their faculty learned about Oracle Academy offerings.
About his experience, Dylan said, “The awesome thing about Oracle Academy is that it makes STEM fun. At the event, students played with robots, not realizing that they were being exposed to tech skills like coding and application development. Students who find a passion for technology are learning proficiencies that can turn into opportunities and lifelong careers. Teachers now have access to fun and nontraditional learning tools for their students, with no burden on budget or resources. This can be especially important in underserved communities, where access to technology is potentially lower than in other communities.”
We were pleased to attend this event and help inspire the next generation of students engage in technology in an exciting way. Oracle Academy continues to work with educators and partners to engage, inspire, and prepare students to become innovators and leaders of the future.
